Bring a touch of the tropics to your summer gatherings this festive season with refreshing, organic hibiscus tea. Hibiscus is used in many parts of the world as both a hot and cold drink and is easy to prepare. It has a tart, berry like flavour and a vibrant red hue which lends a gorgeous splash of colour to the table. We've included a classic iced tea recipe which can also be used as the basis for an organic hibiscus lemon cocktail if you want to jazz it up!
Hibiscus flowers are available either loose in our refill section or packed up by our in house warehouse.
Ingredients
Serves 4
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup dried organic hibiscus flowers
- 1 cup organic sugar (optional)
Method
In a medium saucepan combine all ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Let steep and allow to cool before enjoying with a slice of lemon and ice!
Hibiscus Lemon Cocktail
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 4 cups cooled organic hibiscus tea (as prepared above)
- 3 tablespoons organic lemon juice (from 1-2 lemons)
- 1 cup vodka, chilled
- ice
Method
Add the iced tea, lemon juice and vodka and serve over ice with a slice of lemon.
