Making your own organic hummus is easy which is lucky particularly if, like our household, you go through a ton of it! We routinely double this recipe which is easy to scale up depending on the number of cans of chickpeas you want to use. Grab a can and some tahini and blend it together with the other flavours to suit your taste.
- 1 x 400g tin of organic chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 ½ T lemon juice
- 1 T organic tahini
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 ½ T water
- 1 t salt
Place into the bowl of an electric mixer or handheld kitchen whizz and blend together until smooth. If mixture is dense, simply add 1-2 tsp water as needed to lighten the texture.
This is a basic recipe but you can add other flavours such as cumin, smoked paprika and pepper or just sprinkle a little as garnish - as we did for the picture!
