Good Change: Plastic-Free Cleaning Products

8 July 2026 at 11:00 am

Good Change was founded in 2020 by the Kiwi-Danish duo, Kristy and Stine, who went looking for cleaning products that were effective, plastic-free, and worth keeping on the bench rather than hiding under the sink. When they couldn't find any, they made them themselves!

"The philosophy behind Good Change is 'better, not more'. One genuinely great product replaces a whole category of single-use waste."

Stine Smith & Kristy Hunter, Good Change founders

They started with the Eco Cloth, a Swedish dishcloth that replaces up to 26 rolls of paper towels and lasts 6 to 9 months. They drove the length of New Zealand selling it out of their car boot and doing demos in supermarket aisles, building their range on real feedback from real homes.

Stine & Kristy's Natural Cleaning Tips

We asked Kristy and Stine to share some of their expert housekeeping tips that actually work.

Streak-free glass and mirrors

Spray with Good Change All Purpose Cleaner (or equal parts vinegar and water), wipe with a damp cloth, then buff with a dry cloth - this last step is the magic trick! Don’t use paper towels as they leave bits behind.

Herbal steam for the whole home

Simmer lemon slices, rosemary sprigs, and a few eucalyptus leaves in a pot of water for an hour. The steam freshens the whole house - and smells genuinely good, not chemical-clean.

Bin deodoriser

Before adding a liner, sprinkle baking soda in the bottom and add two drops of essential oil. Fresh for days, no synthetic fragrance needed.

Cutting board refresh

Sprinkle coarse salt, scrub with half a lemon, rinse well. Smells great, looks like new.

The Eco Scrub: one product, three rooms

Keep one of Good Change’s eco scrub at the kitchen sink for dishes and one in the bathroom for tiles - it's brilliant on soap scum without scratching the surface. You could also keep a third one in the shower for yourself! The loofah is a genuinely multi-use material - it was doing its job long before we started wrapping sponges in plastic. When you feel the scrub has reached the end of it’s life, simply pop it in your compost!

The Reusable Bamboo Towel: the most versatile thing in your kitchen

Each sheet washes up to 85 times. Use them as a cleaning wipe: a sandwich wrap, a travel face cloth, a drip mat under oily food while you’re cooking, a damp wrap to keep flower stems fresh. When dry, the bamboo holds a static charge that traps dust rather than spreading it around the room - which is a small detail that will quietly delight you the first time you notice it. They're the kind of product you buy for the kitchen and end up finding all over the house (and car).
