Wellington City

Fresh Produce Manager

Commonsense is a busy and thriving organic retail business. We have 4 stores in the Wellington region and 1 store in Auckland. We cater for people seeking organic supplies, allergy free food and environmentally friendly products.

We are looking for an energetic, engaging and customer focused Produce manager to join our Wellington City team. This is a full time position.

In this role, you will:
• Provide excellent customer service;
• Liaise with, and support, our fresh produce growers;
• Order fresh produce, manage supply, manage pricing and margins;
• Carry out a variety of shop tasks including unloading deliveries, re-stocking and serving customers;
• Oversee layout and display of fresh produce with a focus on quality and visual appeal;
• Be part of a friendly and productive team of people, who care about what they do;
• Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment

The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience working in retail, ideally within a fresh produce department;
• Good knowledge of fruit and veg varieties, knowledge of organics and a passion for the environment;
• A sound understanding of maths and numbers;
• An eye for detail and visual displays;
• High levels of independence, integrity, self-motivation and drive;
• Proven ability and desire to be part of a team working co-operatively and effectively together to achieve objectives;
• Excellent relationship and communication skills;
• Enthusiasm and a sense of humour

Store Worker/Driver

Use your excellent retail and logistics skills and be part of a values-based company selling organic food and environmentally friendly products.

Commonsense is an industry leader in all aspects of organics and sustainability. We cater for people buying organic food, allergy-free items, environmentally friendly goods and health and beauty products and we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional customer service experience.

As Store Worker/Driver you will be responsible for:

  • Methodical supervision and packing of orders
  • Delivering orders in our EV van (2 days driving per week)
  • Working in our store; Customer service, serving on the counter, and stock replenishment.
  • Deliveries Customer Care, Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

This is a varied and rewarding role operating within a busy team.  This role would suit a proactive self starter who is able to take ownership over the role. Other necessary attributes for the successful applicant include:

  • Excellent attention to detail in order to minimise errors
  • An ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Ability to multi task
  • Strong work ethic
  • Friendly team player
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Must hold a full (clean) drivers license

The hours are negotiable but this could potentially be between 35-38 per week. Hours will be spread across 5 days including some evenings and one weekend day.

Accounts Admin Assistant

We are looking for someone to work in our Head Office Accounts Team to provide administrative support to our stores in the following areas:

  • Price checking invoices 
  • Ensuring promotional pricing is applied 
  • Liaising with suppliers (via email or phone) on invoice queries (e.g. anomalies or credit requests)
  • Filing and sorting invoices 
  • Supporting Pricing Team with admin tasks as required
  • Maintaining internal systems and databases

Ideally the successfully applicant will:

  • have good math skills and be proficient in MS Excel
  • have good time management skills and can focus on one task for long periods of time. 
  • be efficient, accurate with good attention to detail
