Beetroot is not only delicious, it’s also a superfood with fantastic health properties. Read on to find out ten of our favourite beet recipes.

Beetroot’s Amazing Health Properties
In recent years, beetroot has been gaining more attention as ‘superfood’. Here are some of the great health properties it’s celebrated for.
- Boosts athletic performance
Some studies have linked the consumption of beetroot to improved athletic performance (see here and here). This is because beets contain high levels of nitrates, and nitrates are said to increase blood flow to muscles.
- Helps with detoxing
Beetroot is usually a key ingredients in ‘detox juices’. This is because beets are considered highly detoxifying, helping our kidneys to flush out toxins and purify the blood.
- May lower blood pressure
Some studies have indicated that drinking beetroot juice may lower blood pressure. This is thought to be linked to the high nitrate levels in beetroot.
- High in vitamins & minerals
Beetroot is high in Vitamin C, which is well-known as an immunity booster. Beets are also high in essential vitamins and minerals like potassium and manganese. Potassium is needed for our nerves and muscles to work well, and manganese is important for our bones, liver and kidneys.

We welcomed these sachets Beetroot & Turmeric Latte sachets to our stores in April 2017, and they’ve already made quite a hit! They’re a delicious beetroot chai infusion which make the pinkest hot drink you’ve ever seen. We love them.
